Solar PV & Renewable Energy Case Studies

National Science Museum

The scheme required fixing standard PV Laminates to a Kalzip aluminium roof and purpose designed glass/glass modules into a new Schuco framed barrel vault roof which would be visible from the new Energy Hall exhibit area below. The support framework to the Kalzip roof utilised Schuco clamp fixings to the up-stand seam of the roof sheet. Fixed to these is a support frame of rails with BP Solar Diamond Fasteners securing the PV laminates. The glazed barrel vault roof was constructed using a standard Schuco pressure plated curtain wall framing system fixed to steelwork primary structure. Romag Glass/Glass double glazed Powerglaz units were fixed into the framework and electrically connected to form a watertight glazed PV barrel vault roof.
